How to Get Maxicards in the USA

Step 1: Pick Your Postcard and Stamp Choose a postcard from that matches an upcoming stamp. Look for a theme that fits well together.

Step 2: Check the Postal Bulletin Visit the USPS website and look up the Postal Bulletin. It lists new stamps and how to get special postmarks.

Step 3a: Get a First Day of Issue Postmark

  • You have 120 days to obtain the first-day-of-issue postmarks by mail.
  • First, stick the stamp on your postcard’s picture side. Choose a good spot, keeping in mind what the postmark will look like!
  • Send the postcards, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope with enough postage for them to send your cards back to you, to the address in the postal bulletin:
  • FDOI - (Name of Stamp Here)
    USPS Stamp Fulfillment Services
8300 NE Underground Drive, Suite 300
    Kansas City, MO 64144-9900
  • It's polite to send a note to the postmaster requesting the postmark and thanking them for it.

Step 3b: Look for Pictorial Postmarks
Sometimes, the USPS offers unique pictorial postmarks. These are also listed in the Postal Bulletin. Follow the same steps as above to get these special marks. You only have 30 days to request these, though!

Step 4: Receive and Share Your Maxicard Once your postcard comes back with the postmark, you’re all set! Share your maxicard with others or add it to your collection.

Maxicards are fun to make and share. They combine postcards, stamps, and a bit of postal art. Check out our designs at MNJohn.com to get started!
